You Always Have a Choice

Sometimes life gets really difficult to face. Sometimes we feel hopeless and helpless. We question the universe and wonder what have we done to deserve this. It can become a challenge to figure things out and to solve those problems. It doesn’t help that the problems can feel gigantic. They feel so heavy. Like we’re holding a boulder above our heads and it’s just waiting to crush us.

But you always have a choice. It may feel like your back is to the wall but there is always a choice. That choice may not be the one you wanted, it may not be perfect, it may not be what you imagined but it is a choice. You can choose to concede to that pressure or you can choose to take a different direction.

Life is all about making choices. Making intentional choices. Those intentional choices determine the direction of our future. Every single choice we make comes with its own set of consequences- positive or negative. Those consequences make it that more essential that we are making choices that will serve us. Choices that help to move us forward. We have to be mindful of what we are deciding to do in our own lives. It’s important that we are choosing to take an active role in what we do. We can’t let life just happen. If you wait around for life to happen, life will continue to pass you by.

The way we care for other people, plants, and animals is the way we must care for ourselves. Without our support those other entities wouldn’t survive. But we make the intentional decision to care for them in ways to help them thrive. We need to start caring for ourselves in the same manner. We have to make those choices to do more because there are always going to be choices presented to us. Which choice will you make?

“I believe that we are solely responsible for our choices, and we have to accept the consequences of every deed, word, and thought throughout our lifetime.”
